TO ALL THE BRIDES TO BE

 

WEDDING CAKE BLUES:

 

I’m on a never-ending quest to make your wedding day perfect. We expect wedding cake bakeries to be magical, right? But, can you believe it—some are not. Many just use everyday boxed cake mixes: Duncan Hines, Betty Crocker, etc., fondants and frostings that are ready made—and who knows what else. I know a good portion of your budget goes toward that once-in-a-lifetime wedding cake, so I decided to share this with all you brides to be. You may think you are getting the most fantastic cake in the world—but are you—or are you paying a small fortune too eat the ingredients that come out of a box? So, brides to be—beware, and aware—tell them you want to take a look in the back room to see how they make the cakes, and check out where they keep their ingredients.  .

 

I do however have some good news: I’m on a search for the bakeries that do everything from scratch. One of the first I have found even includes doing the fondant from scratch, which is a rarity.  I went to “Cake Crumbs” in Encino for a “cake tasting” with my favorite wedding planner, Shannon Fleck. Well, not only are the cakes amazing and bedazzling—they taste as good as they look—not like a lump of butter and sugar, but real homemade ingredients. Yes brides, that is the key—custom cakes made from scratch for you on your special day.

STACY'S TIPS

AVOID WEDDING DISASTER

Avoid substances that could give you oily skin, swelling or irritations, such as red meat, alcohol, caffeine, and spicy or deep fried foods.

• Remember to drink lots of water to keep you hydrated and to flush out all the toxins.
• Avoid using Retain A and Alpha Hydroxy creams at least 4 days prior to the wedding day. They can cause dry flaky skin, and or redness.
• Ex-foliate your skin manually the day before your Wedding. Better yet have a Microdermabrasion peel done a week before. It makes for a clean palate.
• If you can, have your eyebrows professionally shaped prior to the wedding day. Eyebrows are extremely important because they frame out the eyes.
• Have your hair color or roots taken care of a week before the wedding. If you plan on cutting you hair make sure you do that at least a week in advance. It would be helpful to us if you could have your head piece or bridal veil available at the trial hair and make-up session.
• Your hair and face should be clean, and product free when your hair stylist and make-up artist arrive.
• Make sure you bring lipstick and powder with you for touch ups as needed. If you have the make-up artist with you all day, you should still carry those items with you.

     8 THINGS TO LOOK FOR IN A HAIR AND MAKEUP TEAM

1. Are they experienced?
2. Do they offer a trial run?
3. Does the team make you feel comfortable?
4. Aware of how to do your make up for different types of lighting?
5. Will they come to your location?
6. Are they prompt? And will they make sure your bridal party is done in time for the photographer?    
7. Can they call a previous bride for references?
8. Will they do men’s grooming?

For months now, I have been looking for a cosmetic line to carry. June 24th 2007, I went to the make-up show at the Pasadena Convention Center and found Nixie. This cosmetic line truly is the up and coming buzz word in the world of make-up. I am so excited and I have to share this with all the women out there.

First, I started playing around with their brushes, which are fabulous. They are soft to the touch, and do the job extremely well. The best news of all: the prices are not completely insane.

In fact their whole line is reasonably priced. The other thing that impressed me was how helpful all the girls were; not the stuck-up type that we have all encountered.

Besides the brushes, the touch and feel of their foundations is yummy and they come in a myriad or colors and textures. To the naked eye the foundations look absolutely beautiful and are camera ready. I work with brides mostly, so the hard thing for me is to find something that covers nicely, but doesn't look heavy or over-done. I have hit the jackpot with Nixie.

The eye shadows are delicious eye candy (no pun intended) and the colors are gorgeous, as are the blushes.

Now lets get into the staying power, well when you can go and work out and your Makeup doesn't budge that says it all.

I also need to share with you; Nixie is for all skin types, and ethnicities. Nixie is for all ages teens, tweens, and even us older folks.

The other unique thing about Nixie is you can buy a pallet and make your own personalized kit of blushes, eye shadows, foundations, etc. Nixie's products are going to be in gift bags for certain shows that I cannot mention, but you can be on the A list before anyone else.

HIDDEN BEAUTY DOES MITT ROMNEY'S MAKE UP FOR PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES DEBATE!!!

(Sharon E. Phillion ) on his left did Mitt Romney's makeup today for the Presidential Candidates Debate at Ronald Regan's Library,of which I am watching right now.  I was sitting here a couple of weeks ago and got a call from Mitt Romney's office, asking if Hidden Beauty did men's grooming and I said but of course.  And so we did, he is a very sweet man and funny.  I also if you knew me I was able play with his grand baby for a few minutes, yes I  do love baby's, kids in general.  Mr. Romney has 6 Children and 10 Grand Children.  So who knows folks, we may have been with the future President of the United States today, wouldn't that be a trip.
